Postpartum and Newborn Care

BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT

Many mothers are surprised to find that breastfeeding can be challenging. We help new mothers learn different positions for breastfeeding, learn how to help their babies get a deeper latch, teach parents signs that baby is transferring milk, teach mom how to manage engorgement, and teach parents how to recognize a baby's feeding cues to take advantage times baby is more apt to latch effectively. Along with being experienced Maternal/Newborn Registered Nurses, we also have a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) on staff. If you schedule a lactation visit, you will be seen by an RN/IBCLC. If you schedule a RN home visit block, you will be seen by an RN who has extensive experience in breastfeeding support. Our IBCLC is also a Certified Tricare Provider.

INFANT CARE

Maybe baby is fussy and you need help learning techniques for calming and aiding sleep. Maybe you're nervous about giving that first bath and want an extra set of hands and a watchful eye. Maybe you need help learning to change a diaper or care for your newborn's skin. We provide a safe space for learning while increasing new parents' confidence in their abilities to care for their infant independently.

TAKE A NAP!

Often, new parents are sleep deprived after long sleepless nights in labor or after getting home from the hospital after many nights of interrupted sleep. Many times new parents come home from the hospital rested but quickly lose sleep after a few nights home with a fussy baby. Sleep easy knowing a skilled, experienced Registered Nurse is taking care of your baby while you catch up on sleep and get some well deserved rest.

SIBLING CARE

Is big brother or big sister needing some help adjusting to the new baby in the house? We can care for the baby while you spend some quality time with your other children. Adjusting to a new baby takes time and we can help!

NEWBORN SCREENING

We will come collect your baby's newborn screen in the comfort of your own home. You are welcome to breastfeed your infant through the procedure to decrease the discomfort of the heel stick. Most babies do not cry during this procedure while they are breastfeeding. If you are not breastfeeding, your baby can choose to use a pacifier or be held in your arms for comfort. Many parents choose this over taking their baby to the hospital for the second newborn screen.
